Purim is a holiday that we celebrate in the month of Adar. This holiday commemorates the deliverance of the Jewish people during the time of Queen Esther under the Persian Empire from an evil plot that was hatched by Haman, one of King Ahashverosh's ministers. The story of Purim is recorded in Megillat Esther, which we read on this holiday. In the period right before Purim till Rosh Hodesh Nissan, there are four special Torah readings that we say on shabbat and you can listen to them below. There are many pizmonim that we sing on this holiday and most of them are in maqam sigah. In the week of Parashat Zachor and on purim we apply these pizmonim into the tefillah part as recorded below in the hazzanut table.
